I am an ethical captive breeder and that the welfare of any babies I have is paramount. I will not allow them to go to anyone who is planning to keep them in a vivarium or planning to mix wild caught or farmed tortoises with my captive bred ones, because of the possible exposure to pathogens etc. I operate a waiting list for my babies, as committment is what i like to see given that they are likley to live for around 100 years! I expect to have ongoing communication with "prospective" families before they have any of my babies, I ask to see pictures of their set up and then I also deliver the babies to ensure all is well. However, in return what I offer is ongoing support and advice, a wonderfully healthy, active and tame baby and all the details from hatch to delivery. The accompanying pack that comes with the baby includes all hatch details, weight charts from hatch, guidance on care and of course the licence. I allocate my babies at hatch so that the new keeper get a photograph of their baby on the day she hatches. I only incubate for females, as they are better together if going in pairs.
I update the details on my website regularly and expect new keepers to access this as a source of ongoing help and advice.
Feedback about the service I provide can be found on the testimonies page on my website.
hope this helps. |
